Can I replace those ingredients with something else? Ohhhh, that is an interesting question. I don't see why you couldn't substitute a shredded meat for the bacalhau. Something like chicken would work with the potatoes and creamy sauce for sure. If you added in some peas and carrots, it could be like a chicken pot pie without the crust.
Or, you could forego the meat and fish altogether and just double the potatoes to make it a creamy side dish. If you try it, let me know how it works out! And Cristina, thanks for the book tip!! I can't wait to get it! Hey, this dish gets devoured everytime I make it. Its soo good that aunts have requested I make it for family get togethers, and eveytime, the dish comes home with me completely eaten. Qual o equivalente em PT do BR? We spent far much more time at his cosy house than expected and had way much more fun than I would have imagined. I could not eat breakfast the next morning and barely made it to the restaurant for lunch. I do not know when I will visit Porto again but there's much more to see than I have seen.
Likewise there's much more to cook. Next time we will take a city tour with Nuno as well as another cooking class. Couldn't have been better. Nuno was a great and fun host and the experience included the whole works, even a trip to the supermarket to pick up some ingredients. He is very knowledgeable so lots more can be learnt than just cooking and recipes. Recommended even for non-cooks.
The dinner is extremely sumptious so be hungry and also prepare yourself for some good wine. Lots of learning in this cooking class.

Nuno is full of Passion about his cooking and about having guests in his House. Check out for yourselves! Great Food Experience! Portuguese Cooking Workshop with a Local. We had a really lovely evening with Nuno at his home. He is a very good cook and entertained us with good conversation whilst he prepared our meal. We are not the easiest people to feed as we do not eat seafood. Nuno worked his menu around our likes and dislikes. There were quite a few starters one being a cheriso sausage that he set fire to,after that a lovely home made soup then a stew followed by a fresh fruit salad all served with wines and beer Eating as a Portuguese.
All was exzellent. Eva and Rainer Nuno Takes mich Time for us. We had a dinner with him and it was a really pleasant experience. We learnt some cooking techniques, drunk few bottles of wine, listened to stories about portuguese conquerors and ended up playing piano and guitar.
Nuno "made" Porto for me. His architectural education brought boundless insights as we strolled the lanes of Porto togehter. He is a tile expert, and in Porto's tile-laden city, this is precisely who you want as a guide! But the real magic happened in Nuno's home because he also does a Portuguese food workshop where you cook and drink and eat many local specialities. It will "make" your experience in Porto! Nuno:impressive ambassador and new friend.
Nuno is a pleasant guy with a n interesting vision on Porto. He is very attent in his answers en services, his information and food are very good. Good cookingworkshop. We had a wonderful time with Nuno. He was very proactive in contacting us before the due date and, on the day itself, even came to meet us at the bus stop to show us to his house! Throughout the evening, he took great care to explain the whole cooking process, managing to involve us a little in the preparation as well.
His English is excellent, so as well as the cooking, he kept us interested in a wide variety of topics including architecture, football, wine and politics. The food was delicious, of course, and the wine was much appreciated. The whole experience was excellent value for money and we would thoroughly recommend it to anyone. Authentic Portuguese cuisine. He is very knowledgeable and he could answer all my questions during our walk. I liked the part when Nuno mentioned his childhood memories on different spots in Porto which brought me back in time and made me imagine the places how it "used to be".
We visited some beautiful interiors as well which I would never find myself. This gave a special touch to the whole experience. I can recommend very much this tour! After three hours spending with Nuno in Porto, you will see this amazing city in completely different eyes. Nuna just perfect.
